SEPTEMBER 2009 IN THE UMC LIBRARY
Come on now, you're done with those vacations and heavy yard work (well, maybe not raking), so it's time to indulge in books from the UMC library. Here are our latest additions.
Sojourners Magazine continues to address timely, controversial topics, and the recent issues in our library are no exception. The June 2009 issue discusses a burgeoning new movement that is attempting to bridge the two poles of the abortion debate with actions that actually reduce abortion. Jon Stewart, the funny TV prophet, headlines the July 2009 issue; and science and religion coexisting is featured in the August 2009 issue. Sex is the headline issue in the Sept-Oct 2009 Sojourners. The cover story discusses sex without shame, and there's an article entitled "What I wish I'd learned in church about sex." You can find all these Sojourners on the magazine shelf.

MAY 2009 IN THE UMC LIBRARY
Download a pdf file with recent addions to the library.
Waiting for the UMC library to come into the 21st century? Our first manga, Japanese-style graphic novel, is on the shelves. In the fiction section [F FRI], "Pax Avalon: Conflict Revolution" by Steven Reece Friesen does not just rehash the same old conflict story with pictures, but animates an entirely different future that could exist if we only dared follow the heroic call of the cross. Come on young people, check this book out before the baby boomers do.

JANUARY 2009 IN THE UMC LIBRARY
NEW ADDITIONS TO THE UMC LIBRARY!! - January 22, 2009
Let a runner be sent to the next village: no more reaching down to pick out a tape recording of the Sunday service. A rack has been installed right behind the entry door to the library (be careful you don't whack someone if the door is partially closed!). Tapes for the present and past three months are displayed on this eye-level rack. Please remember to sign-out and -in tapes on the clipboard on the adjacent bookcase.
