University Mennonite Church supports Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit organization that grew out of Mennonite Central Committee, to support fair trade and connections with artisans around the world.
For more than 25 years our church has held an annual festival sale featuring fairly traded handicrafts, housewares, clothing, and more from Ten Thousand Villages.
Ten Thousand Villages Vision – One day all artisans in developing countries will earn a fair wage, be treated with dignity and respect and be able live a life of quality.
Let’s Open a Store in State College!
We are currently working to open a permanent Ten Thousand Villages store in State College. This exciting ministry was conceived by a small group in the church who have formed a new non-profit organization and who are now working with others in the community to make this dream a reality. A local store will further the mission of Ten Thousand Villages by expanding the local market for fairly traded products and enhance inter-cultural understanding and awareness.
